Amoebiasis, caused by the protozoan parasite Entamoeba histolytica, is a global public health concern with diverse clinical manifestations and significant morbidity and mortality rates, particularly in regions lacking proper sanitation infrastructure. This article provides a comprehensive overview of amoebiasis, including its transmission, clinical presentations, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive measures. The parasite's ability to switch between dormant cysts and invasive trophozoites contributes to its persistence and spread.
