Fermentative production of plant Chitosan, a flexible biopolymer (perspectives and its applications)

Worldwide once a year around one hundred forty million tonnes of artificial polymers ar made. These polymers ar stable and their degradation cycle within the part is proscribed. This necessitates the requirement for natural perishable polymers that match into the ecological cycle. Among these biopolymers, chitosan, a partly deacetylated style of biopolymer polyose has been receiving additional attention because of its versatile nature. industrial chitosan is obtained from crustacean shells like crabs, lobsters and shrimps ar loaded with several demerits and restricted the potential industrial acceptance of chitosan. Mycelia wastes from fermentation processes as a supply of plant polyose and chitosan would provide a stable non- seasonable supply of stuff and would be additional consistent in character and of top quality. during this context, this review discusses biopolymers, the deserves and demerits numerous|of varied|of assorted} sources of chitosan and its various biological activities.
